La requinta del Ulla es un instrumento musical tradicional gallego y, como tal, su historia está ligada a la vida y a la música del pueblo donde se desarrolló su actividad, concretamente en el Valle del Ulla. Desde su práctica desaparición (sobre los años 80 del pasado siglo) hasta hoy, salieron a la luz varios trabajos imprescindibles para la recuperación de este hermoso instrumento tradicional, pero nunca habíamos tenido la ocasión de contemplar un cancionero de melodías que habían sido interpretadas en el repertorio de los viejos requinteros.Este estudio contiene la historia de los inicios y la evolución de la flauta en el Valle del Ulla, así como la historia del Obradoiro García Riobó (A Estrada), el taller de gaitas y ?requintas? más antiguo de Galicia aún en funcionamiento. Fotos de instrumentos antiguos y modernos, de agrupaciones tradicionales y bandas de música, acompañan esta historia musical de nuestro pasado. Cuenta con más de ochenta partituras transcritas e incluye un CD que contiene ejemplos de esas piezas y de los sonidos de las viejas gaitas, ?requintas? y percusiones.
