Poet philosopher Ron Lampi's singular style of descriptive poetry documents and honors the unique history and atmosphere of famed landmark for surfing, beachgoing, and tolerance of individual expression that is Santa Cruz, California. First published in 2012, On The Cruz: Poems of Santa Cruz includes many poems celebrating the ambience of Santa Cruz and its environs including the heartbreaking impact on Santa Cruz of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. The new edition has 70 additional pages chronicling Santa Cruz during COVID desolation, as well as poems documenting the impact of the fire of summer 2020 on the San Lorenzo Valley, local parks, people, and beloved venues. This book is a collector's item for anyone who has grown up in or has developed a special love for this spectacular location on the planet.
