Eucharistic Origins

"Eucharistic Origins" is a scholarly investigation into the liturgical and theological foundations of the Lord's Supper. Drawing upon his extensive expertise as a biblical scholar and paleographer, J. Rendel Harris explores the early development of Christian sacramental practices. The work examines the transition from Jewish meal traditions to the formalized Christian Eucharist, scrutinizing ancient texts and historical contexts to shed light on how the central rite of the church was shaped in its formative years.

Harris's approach combines meticulous textual criticism with a deep understanding of the sociocultural environment of the early Mediterranean world. By tracing the evolution of terminology and ritual practice surrounding the bread and wine, this study offers valuable insights for theologians, historians of religion, and those interested in the liturgical heritage of Christianity. "Eucharistic Origins" remains a significant contribution to the study of early church history, providing a rigorous analysis of the symbols and ceremonies that have defined Christian worship for centuries.
