Availability and Use of Instructional Materials in Teaching & Learning

The study was designed to ascertain the availability and the use of instructional materials in teaching and learning of computer education in secondary schools in Enugu State of Nigeria. Four research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Survey research design was used for the study. The population for the study comprised 291 secondary schools and 485 computer education teachers and 30.538 computer students in public secondary schools in the Enugu State. A sample size for the study comprised 107 teachers and 1,527 draw from 58 secondary schools. The proportionate random sampling technique was adopted in the study. The Instrument for data collection was done using a structured questionnaire developed by the researcher titled: "Availability and the Use of Instructional Materials in Teaching and Learning Computer Education in Secondary Schools" (AUIMTLCESS). The instruments were validated by experts in the Department of Science Education and Measurement and Evaluation, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient was used to test the reliability of the instruments. The reliability coefficient of the instruments is 0.69.
