Citizens of Shadow: Beguiled by Night Book Two

A queer, immortal vampire dares to defy time itself - and discovers that love may be the most dangerous pursuit of all.

In Beguiled by Night, Vauquelin - an ancient vampire living in modern Los Angeles - watches his time unravel, hurling him back into seventeenth-century France and forcing him to face the sins that made him immortal.

Now, in Citizens of Shadow, he grapples with the aftermath of that reckoning. Haunted by ghosts of his past and the blood he can never wash away, Vauquelin struggles to rebuild his existence - until a chance encounter shatters every illusion he's clung onto.

Confronted with the fragile nature of happiness, he realises that joy, unlike death, offers no certainty. It dazzles, then vanishes - leaving behind only longing and loss. Yet in a single, desperate act of defiance, he risks eternity itself for the one thing that has always eluded him: love.

Darkly romantic and steeped in gothic atmosphere, Citizens of Shadow explores redemption, desire, and the perilous beauty of being human - even when humanity is long lost.

This haunting sequel merges worlds with Beverley Lee's acclaimed Gabriel Davenport trilogy - where desire and damnation walk hand in hand. More vampires await you in the shadows...
