What these films often fail to show is another, more nuanced side: the countless everyday efforts of American servicemen who, in the midst of a grim and challenging environment, worked tirelessly to make the best of a very difficult situation.

This book seeks to tell that overlooked story. It focuses on the experiences of a group of Recon Pilots, who, flying across the country, witnessed firsthand the events unfolding in various locations.
