The Graveyard Shift

The Graveyard Shift
For eleven years, Silas Marrow has walked the rounds at Hollow Rest Cemetery, and in all that time the dead have never asked him for anything.

Then comes October 31st. The gate he locks every dusk unlocks itself, chain by chain. The lamps that have been dead since 2009 flare to life along the avenue. The old caretaker's last warning rings in his ears: on All Hallows' Eve, the cemetery never closes.

As the dead rise to claim what the living owe them, Silas finds his own name written in the visitors' log in fresh ink, dated eleven years ago, beside the night his wife was buried. Her grave is empty. The earth has been thrown outward, as if something pushed its way up from below.

Soon a young guard has vanished, a skeptical detective is learning that disbelief is no protection, and a pale Warden is offering Silas a bargain that could save everyone on the hill, at a price he may not survive. Beneath the cemetery, something has been awake for three hundred years, and it has been waiting for him to clock in.

Some debts are never forgiven. Some shifts never end.
The Graveyard Shift is a chilling Halloween horror novel of grief, guilt, and the terrible courtesy of the dead.
