In Cleveland, a young boy named Omar discovers that basketball can teach him something far greater than how to win a game.

His father, Muhammad Hashim, is a Filipino immigrant, a gifted boat builder, an antique lover, and a quiet man of deep faith. When Muhammad takes Omar to watch a young LeBron James practice alone after school, Omar expects to see basketball.

Instead, his father teaches him a lesson that will remain with him for the rest of his life:

"That's how you build a legacy."

Years later, Muhammad is gone, and Omar discovers that some memories are too painful to carry. Basketball-once his greatest passion-becomes a reminder of everything he lost.

But life moves forward. Omar marries, raises a family, and builds a life of his own. When his son Hamid develops a love for basketball, however, the past comes knocking again.
