Where We Fall

Some men you invite into your life. Becker Hayes was not one of those men. He crashed into my orderly world with two little girls and an aura of temptation, ignoring my carefully constructed rules.

In the boardroom, he's powerful, untouchable, and completely off limits. In my memory, he's the one kiss I was never supposed to see again. In person-stranded in a small town that never forgot him, guardian to two young nieces who need more than he knows how to give-he's something I'm completely unprepared for.

Vulnerable.

I'm not supposed to want him. I'm definitely not supposed to keep helping him. But my mother's illness is slowly winning, and I'd give anything to feel something again...even if that means teaching a man like Becker Hayes how to survive bath time, bedtime, and his intrusive neighbors.

He's learning to live this new life while I'm mourning the loss of my old one. And somewhere between the chaos and the quiet of Sailport Bay, we're building something that breaks every rule I set for myself.

Some rules exist for a reason. Others just need the right man to make you forget them.
