Adolescence is an age stage that varies from one individual to another, from one geographical environment to another, from one race to another, and from one lineage to another. It also varies according to the cultural patterns in which the adolescent is raised. In primitive societies, it differs from those in civilized societies. It also differs from those in urban societies to those in rural societies. It also differs from those in strict societies, which impose many restrictions and shackles on the adolescent's activity, to those in a free society, which provides adolescents with opportunities for work and activity, and opportunities to satisfy various needs and motivations. Experience has shown that the modern social systems in which adolescents live are responsible for the occurrence of the adolescent crisis. The problems of adolescence in Western societies are much more numerous than their counterparts in Arab and Islamic societies. However, this does not mean at all that it is possible to have an adolescence without problems. However, the difference may be in the severity and form of these problems, so that this stage appears in three forms: normal adolescence, withdrawn adolescence, and aggressive adolescence. It is possible to pass through this stage with the least risks, by following sound educational methods for dealing with the adolescent, so that he grows up and crosses to safety, healthy and free from all the diseases and risks that adolescents are often exposed to who do not find adequate care in their families and the communities in which they live.
