Paris Bank

At the heart of a Yorkshire valley stands Paris Bank, an unconventional old house filled with eccentric characters, old stories, strong opinions, unlikely friendships, and more than a few secrets.Max has spent years living among its colourful residents, including the free spirited Tavish, enigmatic Connie, unpredictable Zelda, and the increasingly out of place Walter Harkin. Their lives unfold across decades, from the counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s to the early years of the new millennium, weaving together travel, music, friendship, social change, and wonderfully absurd encounters. But beneath the humour lies something stranger.Unexplained coincidences begin to follow Max. Fleeting apparitions appear where they should not. The past seems unwilling to stay buried. Then the discovery of an old manuscript with a possible connection to Emily Brontë threatens to turn Paris Bank from a peaceful refuge into the centre of unwanted attention.Funny, unconventional, nostalgic, and quietly mysterious, Paris Bank is a richly layered British novel about friendship, fate, memory, chance, and the strange ways in which lives become connected. Some coincidences are easy to dismiss.
